Cheap Gas !, British Gas First to drop prices in 2009

British Gas is pleased to announce that they are reducing their standard tariff gas prices by 10%* from 19th February 2009. This means they are the first major supplier to announce a reduction in prices.
Wholesale Gas prices are still at historically high levels, not helped by the recent very cold weather and the dispute between Russia and Ukraine. However they are now lower than the record highs of last summer, and because British Gas as a large energy supplier is able to buy its gas supplies in advance at sometimes favourable prices, it is able to act swiftly to pass on cheaper gas prices to its customers.
